The Third International Conference on Durability, Repair and Maintenance of Structures will take place at the Faculty of Engineeering of the University of Porto on the 11 and 12 of March 2027.
This conference will be chaired by Professor Lucas F. M. da Silva (University of Porto, Portugal) and co-chaired by Professor António Torres Marques (University of Porto, Portugal) and Professor Masayuki Nakada (Kanazawa Institute of Technology, Japan).
The focus of this conference is the study of the durability, repair and maintenance processes of engineering structures. Novel research works carried out in various topics within these wider themes will be accepted.
Among the topics covered are:
-corrosion processes and corrosion protection;
-creep failure processes;
-damage and degradation under service loadings;
-diagnostics and prognostics algorithms;
-durability and failure of additively manufactured structures;
-durability in civil engineering applications;
-durability in aerospace applications;
-durability of composite, concretes and metals;
-failure and reliability analysis;
-fatigue testing and characterization;
-hygroscopic behaviour of materials;
-intelligent fault detection;
-long term performance of marine structures;
-maintenance methodologies;
-methodologies for fatigue design;
-repair of composite materials and structures;
-risk assessment and failure detection;

DURACOSYS Conference has been created by Professors Albert Cardon (VUB – Belgium), Ken Reifsneider (USA) and Hiroshi Fukuda, Tokyo University of Science, Japan.
After the meeting on Durability Analysis of Polymer Based Composite Systems (August 1990 – Brussels) and the Invited International Informal Seminar on Durability Analysis of Composite Systems, in Porto - Portugal, 18-21/7/1993, the following International Conferences took place:
•Progress in Durability Analysis of Composite Systems - Duracosys 95, 16th – 21st July 1995 – Brussels, Belgium;DURACOSYS 2008 - 8th International Conference on Durability of Composite Systems, held at Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, Portugal, July 16th – 18th 2008, took place after the death of Prof. Albert Cardon, and paid a Tribute to Him during the Conference.
Then, the following sequence occurred:
•9th International Conference on Durability Analysis of Composite Systems - Duracosys 2010, Patras, Greece, 12th – 15th September 2010;Sometime has passed and it was felt a need to enlarge the scope of the conference although keeping the focus on durability, but including repair and maintenance processes of engineering structures. This has led to the establishment and successful organization of DRMS 2023, which was followed two years later by DRMS2025.

Durability/in-service assessment of rail vehicle structures

Prof. Martin Leitner is a Full Professor and Head of the Institute of Structural Durability and Railway Technology at Graz University of Technology in Austria. Further, he acts as Head of the CD Laboratory for Structural Integrity in Rail Vehicle Design, whereas one main research focus is laid on the fatigue design of structural rail vehicle components and structures. The plenary lecture presents latest insights into design approaches of selected rail vehicle parts based on experimental and numerical investigations.
Some new technologies for structural health monitoring

Keith began academic life as a theoretical physicist, with a degree from York University and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Heriot-Watt University eventually followed. A period of research at Manchester University led to an appointment at the University of Sheffield in 1995, where he has happily remained since. Keith's research is mainly concerned with applications of advanced signal processing and machine learning methods to structural dynamics. The primary application is in the aerospace industry, although there has also been interaction with ground transport and offshore industries.
How much the rebar corrosion rate depends on temperature facing climatic change?

Carmen Andrade Perdrix is Dr. in Industrial Chemistry, and Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Trondheim (Norway) and of Alicante (Spain). She has been Titular Prof. 2021 of the Chair “Construindo a Amanha” of San Paulo University-Brasil. She awarded several international prizes, among which the fib Medal of Merit 2024. She has been Research Professor at the Institute of Construction Sciences of the CSIC of Spain, devoting his research to reinforcement corrosion, ND corrosion techniques, concrete durability and service life assessment.
