The conference venue is the campus of the Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto (FEUP), which offers excellent facilities for high quality scientific interactions. FEUP is located in the town of Porto in the Northern region of Portugal. Porto is a beautiful and lively city, steeped in history and rich in great experiences. With its magnificent location by the Atlantic coast, Porto is the city of the world famous Port Wine and the River Douro.
This conference is held every 2 years. The conference is chaired by Lucas F. M. da Silva and co-chaired by Fátima Vaz (Instituto Superior Técnico, Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal), Marion Merklein (Friedrich-Alexander University, Germany) and Ricardo Carbas (INEGI, Portugal). The focus is on engineering manufacture and will include works on additive manufacturing, precision machining, vacuum assisted high pressure die casting, semi-solid metal casting, compressive and tensile forming processes, among many others.

Cancellation Policy
In case of cancellation, a written notification should be sent to the conference chairman. If it is received prior to March 10th, 2026, registration fees will be refunded with a deduction of €75. No refund can be made after March 10th, 2026.

Prof Paulo Martins
(University of Lisbon, Portugal)
Paulo Martins is Professor of Manufacturing at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon. He was awarded with a Doctor Technices Honoris Causa degree from the Technical University of Denmark in 2018. He is a Fellow of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP) and has received numerous prestigious awards. Notable among these are the International Prize for R&D in Precision Forging from the Japan Society for Technology of Plasticity (2021), the Thomas Hawksley Gold Medal from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in the UK (2015), the Thatcher Bros Prize from the Manufacturing Industries Division of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK (2015), and the Donald Julius Groen Prize from the Structural Technology and Materials Group of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK (2008).

Data-empowered sensing: A keystone for smart manufacturing

Prof Robert X. Gao

Robert Gao is the Cady Staley Professor and Department Chair of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, USA. Since receiving his Ph.D. degree from the Technical University of Berlin, Germany in 1991, he has been working on physics-based signal transduction mechanisms for process-embedded sensing, multi-resolution analysis, stochastic modeling, and AI/machine learning-based data analytics for manufacturing systems and process monitoring, control and quality assurance.
He was named one of the 20 Most Influential Professors in Smart Manufacturing by SME and recognized as a “Highly Cited Researcher in the Field of Engineering” by Web of Science (WoS) in 2023 and 2024, respectively.

Hybrid micromachining - a paradigm shift in micromanufacturing

Prof Xichun Luo

Xichun Luo is a Professor in Ultra Precision Manufacturing, Technical Director of Centre for Precision Manufacturing at the University of Strathclyde, UK. His research interests include ultra-precision machining, micro, nano, atomic and close-to-atomic scale manufacturing and digital manufacturing.
Prof. Luo won International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) Scientist Medal in 2024 and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) 2015 Ludwig Mond Prize for research and development of novel digital tools for micro & nanomanufacturing. He has over 260 publications and four patents.

Advanced scalable surface engineering technologies for industrial applications

Prof. Jining Sun
(Dalian University of Technology, China)
Jining Sun is a Professor in School of Mechanical Engineering Dalian University of Technology, China. His research mainly focuses on design and manufacturing of functional surfaces, atomic and close-to-atomic scale manufacturing, and advanced sensing technologies. His research maintains strong industrial relevance. Prof. Sun was appointed as a technical advisor to leading multinational corporations including Contour Fine Tooling (UK), Renishaw (UK), Worldia Diamond Tools (China) and Universal Energy (China), etc. He has published over 80 journal papers and served as editorial board members of multiple international journals.
The poster size must be maximum A0 (841 mm x 1189 mm) in portrait (see sample image). The text and illustrations should be readable from a distance of two meters. Tacks and technical equipment for the hanging of posters will be available. Please check the conference final program for the poster board number assigned to you.
